I’ve been studying neuroscience and cognitive psychology since 1999. I switched from studying physics and math to studying the mind after realizing our interpretation of reality is very different from physical reality.
I’ve used artificial neural networks as tools to understand how brains process information in the service of thought and consciousness. My research has included many aspects of brain function; my Master’s thesis was on neural mechanisms of executive control; my PhD work was in the neural mechanisms of attention in visual search, and my research has built from there to try to understand how those and other brain systems come together to create complex planning and decision-making.
